We started at the 2nd annual BBQ contest. Friends and family of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Armstrong and Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Schully. Our team was then known as The Saturday Night Group.
In 1986, as the second generation started to take over, we merged with the Hobie Hogs (another team made up of friends and family members) and became known as Swine & Dine. Jerry Crain has been our head cook since that time.
For the past several years our team has consisted of about 80 team members, all friends and family of the original team members. This year we have people traveling in from New Orleans, Austin, Charlotte, Dayton, Atlanta, Montgomery, Nashville, and Indianapolis.
Swine & Dine’s 80 members are divided up into committees:
All groups are chaired by a team member and made up of team members. The team Captain is Mike Armstrong.
This will be our 29th Memphis in May™ BBQ Contest.
